ALCTS symposium on institutional repositories in Denver prior to ALA MidWinter

The advance registration deadline of Dec. 5 is quickly 
approaching for the ALCTS symposium on institutional repositories 
that will take place on the Thursday prior to ALA MidWinter in 
Denver in January, 2009. Information regarding the program and 
costs follows.

Implementing an Institutional Repository: Benefits and Challenges
an ALCTS Symposium at ALA Midwinter 2009
 	Thursday, January, 22, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
 	Denver, Colorado

Many libraries have joined the movement to create an 
institutional repository, providing a mechanism to acquire, 
maintain, and preserve scholarly and other material of lasting 
value to the institution. The presentations will focus on the 
challenges, pitfalls and promises of establishing and supporting 
institutional repositories. A discussion of the legal and access 
issues as well as various IR platforms and models will allow 
attendees to make informed decisions regarding the introduction 
of an institutional repository.
