Hi Georgie --

In my experience I have found that different vendors have 
different definitions for what constitutes 'multi-site.' For some 
vendors, a separate building which is under the same 
administration is not considered a separate site, while for other 
vendors separate buildings (even with the same administration) at 
a distance of (fill in the blank) _____ miles will constitute, in 
their eyes, a separate site. The only advice I can offer is to 
explain your situation and negotiate with each vendor. This is 
one of those parts of licensing for which there is no 
best-practice or 'tradition' so each vendor has evolved their own 
interpretation. Do not confuse distance learners, however, with 
multi-sites: those are two different concepts and perhaps being 
able to distinguish between the two will help you in your 
situation.

Hi all,

Does someone have a clear-cut definition for when a campus
becomes a multi-site, triggering multi-site pricing & licensing
requirements?  Our school has a strong distance ed program, but
has recently begun talking about whether to station permanent
staff/faculty at community colleges or other local schools where
we teach these satellite classes.  My thinking is that once there
is a permanent full-time staff/faculty person there, it may
define us as campus with more than one site.  Or would the
tipping point come later, when there's truly a branded
Appalachian State University - Hickory (or some such)?  You may
