Korean Collection

The Yale Library has a growing collection of Korean materials, which primarily supports teaching and research needs of the faculty and students at Yale.  As Yale University has only a few professors who teach classes related to Korean studies, the Korean collection is developed on a highly selective basis with primary emphasis on faculty and graduate student requests.  

The Korean Collection is also responsible for collecting materials published in the field of Korean studies in the humanities published in North America, Europe, and other imprint areas outside of Korea.

Art and archaeology, Buddhism, history, literature, language and linguistics, contemporary political and social issues.

The primary focus of the Korean collection is electronic resources. Areas include:

• Major academic journals in full-text
• Full-text reference sources and classical Korean works
• Newspaper archives in full-text

The secondary focus of the Korean collection is print resources. Areas include:

• Key reference sources in the humanities and social sciences
• Monographs on Korean art and archaeology, Buddhism, history (with emphasis on the colonial and early postwar periods and some coverage of the Choson dynasty), contemporary political and social issues, literature, language, and linguistics.
