Yale Library Book Talk: Leigh Bardugo ’97, author of Ninth House and Hell Bent
Leigh Bardugo will speak about crafting the world of the uncanny in her bestselling novels Ninth House and Hell Bent, and their many ties to real people and places at Yale. Please note: Spoilers for both books will be discussed.
Hell Bent is the latest novel in the Ninth House series, which imagines a secret dark history of Yale’s senior societies, where magic and privilege have combined in terrifying ways. It follows the story of an outsider slowly learning that these secrets are entwined with the history of the university and New Haven.
Leigh Bardugo is the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of Ninth House and Hell Bent, and the creator of the Grishaverse, now the Netflix original series Shadow and Bone. She is a Yale graduate and an associate fellow of Pauli Murray College.
The Book Talk is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Advance registration is required, and there will be a waitlist. The talk will also be live streamed on Zoom.

The Book Talk will be followed by an open-to-all book signing on the plaza outside Beinecke Library plaza (Hewitt Quadrangle) at 121 Wall Street, New Haven, from 3 to 5 pm. Registration is not required for the signing. Guests may bring any two books or items for signing and personalization. In order to end the signing on time, the line will be cut off at 4 pm. Anyone not in line at that time will be turned away.
