The Yale Library Self-Checkout App can be used from your smartphone or a kiosk found in the library. The application allows you to check out books in the library’s book stacks yourself. Use the Self-Checkout App

After you download and install the app, log in with your NetID. The time you login, you will need to verify your identity using the DUO multifactor authentication process. After that, the app will remember you.

To check out a book:

  1. Click the plus at the top of the screen
  2. Scan the barcode on the front of the book using your phone’s camera
  3. Click the blue Finished button on the bottom right

You will receive an email from the application with a listing of your books.

Use a Kiosk

You can check out books at self-checkout kiosks.

To check out a book:

  1. Log in to the kiosk; there are two options:
    • Swipe your Yale ID 
    • Log in  by clicking on the NetID option on the welcome page
  2. Click the plus at the top of the screen
  3. Scan the barcode on the front of the book
  4. Click the blue Finished button

Kiosks can be found at Sterling Memorial Library, Bass Library, Marx Library, Music Library, Divinity Library, and Math Library.

Getting Help

If the kiosk or app is not working, or if you are unable to find the barcode on the book you wish to check out, please see a staff member at one of our library service desks.
