Post-Docs and Visiting Scholars

Yale-employed Visiting Scholars, Researchers and Post-Doctoral appointments are eligible for borrowing privileges at no charge. These privileges vary depending on the appointment, which is set by the scholar’s home department or college. All users in this category are eligible for Yale University ID cards, which is used to borrow materials and gain access to library facilities after 6 pm. Please contact Sterling Memorial Library’s service desk for more information on your specific privileges.
 
Yale employed Visiting Scholars, Researchers and Post-Doctoral appointments borrowing privileges include: 
 
  • Book loan period: 1 year or date of account expiration, whichever is the lesser amount
  • Number of books/loans: 300 or 500 items (dependent on appointment at Yale)
  • Number of Yale Film Archive items: 20 items
  • Services: Borrow Direct, Interlibrary Loan, Scan and Deliver, Mail to Address
  • Access to Sterling Memorial and Bass Library after 6 pm, when an ID is required to enter the building
  • NetID access to public computer terminals
     
Users in this category are normally eligible for a Yale ID card which also serves as the library borrowing card. Please visit the Yale ID Center to get your card before using the library.
