For Undergraduates

We are here to help you achieve your goals!
Visit
When you get to campus, take a library tour.
Partner
All incoming students have a personal librarian. Your personal librarian is available to answer any questions about the library, consult about class or research projects, help you find library materials, and direct you to more specialized support. We are here to help you achieve your goals!
The Student Library Advisory Committee (SLAC) provides opportunities for Yale students in any major or program to shape how Yale Library serves students. SLAC members get visits to non-public areas of the library, previews of new services, and an insider’s understanding of the library.
Study
We offer a variety of spaces for quiet and group study, meetings, classes, and presentations. If you are on Science Hill, visit Marx Library, which has a 24-hour study space among other options. On central campus, Bass Library—connected to Sterling Library via a tunnel—is an undergraduate hub. Most of our libraries offer study break events and activities to help you “recharge” during Reading Week. Find a place to study.
Discover
Quicksearch is your starting point for finding all the library resources you need. It searches simultaneously across all library collections, including books, articles, electronic resources, databases, datasets, digital collections, and more. We are happy to help you hone your search strategies.
Check out our equipment lending program in Bass Library for short-term loans of laptops, projectors, cameras, and more.
Our libraries hold extraordinary collections of rare, unique, or fragile materials that you can request for hands-on use in designated Special Collections Reading Rooms. These materials include rare books, manuscripts, archives, maps, photos, prints and drawings, recordings, digital content, and much more. Learn about using Special Collections.
Connect
To keep up with current events, take advantage of our free subscriptions to several major publications. Use these links to access the Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and the Atlantic.
To keep up with Yale Library events and opportunities, including opportunities for students to curate library exhibits, follow @YaleLibrary on Instagram and subscribe to Nota Bene, our monthly e-newsletter.
Learn
Build your research skills by attending workshops designed to demystify the literature review, hone your citation management skills, and give you a strong start in data analysis and visualization. We offer workshops in the evenings and on weekends too!
Work
Yale Library is one of the university’s largest student employers. Students work in many library areas, including digital imaging services, curatorial work, collections maintenance, social media, and data. As a peer mentor, you can deliver workshops to other students, and build your own instruction skills.
