In recognition of her years of leadership and success, President Maurie McInnis and Provost Scott Strobel have reappointed Barbara F. Rockenbach as the Stephen F. Gates ’68 University Librarian for a second five-year term.

As Sterling Memorial Library prepares for its centennial celebration in 2031, Rockenbach will continue to lead Yale Library in fulfilling the current and future needs of students, faculty, and staff.

“There is a critical balance between tradition and innovation that keeps the library at the heart of the university,” Rockenbach recently told a Yale News reporter. “We are committed to supporting a culture of curiosity and fostering the creation of new knowledge.”

The announcement from the Office of the President enumerates Rockenbach’s many far-reaching accomplishments during the past four-and-a-half years.
