Interim directors named for Yale’s law and medical libraries
Yale librarians Daniel Dollar and Holly Grossetta Nardini have been named to interim leadership positions for the Lillian Goldman Law Library and the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library respectively.
Daniel Dollar, Interim Law Librarian
Dollar joined the Law Library on Feb. 9 as interim law librarian, succeeding Femi Cadmus.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Daniel to ensure that the Law Library continues to help us fulfill our academic mission,” wrote Cristina M. Rodríguez, Yale Law School’s Sol and Lillian Goldman Dean, in a message to the law school community.
Dollar has held a succession of Yale Library leadership positions since 2001, when he joined Yale as reference and electronic resources librarian for the Medical Library. Since 2016, he has served as associate university librarian for scholarly resources, providing strategic direction and fiscal oversight for access and public services, preservation and conservation, and scholarly communication and collection strategy. Dollar represents Yale Library as a founding partner of Research4Life, a public/private partnership that provides developing countries with free or low-cost access to academic and peer-reviewed research resources online. He was a 2022 UCLA Library Senior Fellow.
Holly Nardini, Medical Library Interim Director
Nardini, the Medical Library’s associate director since 2016, became interim director on Feb. 9, following the retirement of former director John Gallagher. Nardini has worked at Yale Library for more than 25 years, including as Yale Library’s service quality director from 2000 to 2003.
Over the past decade at the Medical Library, Nardini partnered with Gallagher to lead the library and directly oversaw the library’s research, clinical, education, collections, and technology services. She has been involved in all levels of medical education and research for the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health, and Yale New Haven Hospital. Nardini received the Linda Lorimer Award for Distinguished Service to Yale in 2016 and the Medical Library Association’s Estelle Brodman Academic Medical Librarian of the Year Award in 2018. She was a National Library of Medicine/Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries Leadership Fellow in 2022-23.
“Experience and Expertise”
“Both Holly and Daniel have served as senior leaders in Yale Library for a decade and we are fortunate to have their experience and expertise to support our users in this time of transition,” said Barbara Rockenbach, the Stephen F. Gates ’68 University Librarian.
Under Rockenbach’s leadership, Yale Library encompasses Bass Library, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the Classics Library, the Divinity Library, Gilmore Music Library, Haas Arts Library, Lewis Walpole Library, Marx Science and Social Science Library, Sterling Memorial Library, the Yale Film Archive, the Center for Library Preservation and Conservation, and the Library Shelving Facility in Hamden, Conn. As a division of the Law School, the Law Library is administratively separate but shares many Yale Library services and systems, including a unified library catalog.
