Read Remembering Kenya Flash: “Brilliance, generosity, and vast knowledge”

Three events will be held on Jan. 9 and 10 to celebrate the life of Kenya Siana Flash, librarian for Political Science, Global Information, and Government Information, who died on Dec. 24 after a brief illness at the age of 41.

  • On Sunday, Jan. 9, at 11 am, an online funeral service will be held.
  • On Sunday, Jan. 9, at 3 pm, an online memorial service will be held.
  • On Monday, Jan. 10, at 5:30 pm, a candlelight ceremony will be held on the grassy area north of Marx Science and Social Science Library on Science Hill. All are welcome to celebrate Kenya’s life and light with candles, poems, photos, and shared words and stories. Friends and colleagues are also invited to share stories and photos of Kenya on an online memorial site

Beginning in 2023, Yale University Library will host a three-year residency for an early career librarian from a professionally underrepresented racial or ethnic group, in Kenya’s honor. To make a gift in support of the Kenya S. Flash Residency, please e-mail library gift officer Chris Woodford.
