Next Generation Network installation underway at four Yale libraries
Yale’s Next Generation Network (NGN) will be installed in Bass Library, Beinecke Library, Marx Library, and Sterling Memorial Library in May and early June.
During installation, on-site library users may experience network outages or slowdowns in connectivity for several days. Affected dates, by library, are:
- Bass Library: May 12-16
- Beinecke Library, May 12-15
- Marx Library, May 19-May 22
- Sterling Memorial Library, June 3-12
The Sterling Library installation also includes the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning.
The campus-wide NGN project is transforming Yale’s digital infrastructure building by building, to meet the highest standards of modern connectivity. The new, advanced network is expected to provide unparalleled reliability and security, serving as the backbone for the groundbreaking research and innovative learning. Researchers, students, and faculty alike will benefit from robust security measures ensuring privacy and protection for data big and small.
