Shana Jackson, Senior Administrative Assistant
Shana Jackson is a Senior Administrative Assistant (SAA) for operations at the Yale Law School’s Lillian Goldman Law Library (LGLL). An active supporter of DEI efforts, Shana co-chairs the Law Library’s Anti-Racism Task Force and serves on the Library’s Staff Climate Survey Task Force.
Through her role as SAA, Shana works on operational tasks, special projects, and event planning. She is currently working on updating portraiture in the library and retreat planning, as well as considering how to build on the success of the inaugural Black Trivia event she spearheaded in March for students, faculty, staff, and their families. Based on enthusiastic feedback from attendees, Shana and the planning team decided to hold this event annually to celebrate the histories and achievements of people across the African Diaspora. Additionally, Shana and Kathryn James curated the “Twins on the Bench” exhibit that celebrates the unveiling of Ashlynn Smith’s portrait of the twin siblings and 1962 YLS graduates, Justice George Bundy Smith and Justice Inez Smith Reid. Please be sure to visit this great exhibition through July 31, 2023 at LLGL Level Two.
Though Shana has been in her current role for less than a year, she has contributed twenty-four years of outstanding service to Yale and regularly speaks with people about their experiences here over the years, especially Black and Brown students. Shana uplifts so many of our campus and community members with her warm spirit, her no-nonsense words of wisdom, and her events that bring together people from all walks of life.
Keep your eyes open for information on Shana’s next projects, which include a gardening initiative in which people can bury their COVID trauma and plant hope, and an inspiring Juneteenth event with the Descendants of the CT 29th Colored Regiment.
