A rare early moving picture shows a Juneteenth 1925 celebration in Beaumont, Texas. The film is from a Beinecke Library collection of silent black and white films created by Rev. Solomon Sir Jones, a minister who created a rich film record of African American life primarily in Oklahoma in the 1920s.

The Yale screening of “Moi-même” on April 24 will be followed by a conversation with filmmaker Mojo Lorwin, Breuer’s son and eventual collaborator on the film. The Beinecke Library, home to Breuer’s papers, recently acquired the film’s original footage.
