On Nov. 11, Yale University President Maurie McInnis presented Terri Dagradi, Cushing Center Coordinator, and GIS librarian Miriam Olivares with the prestigious Linda Lorimer Award for Distinguished Service.
Olivares, a Ph.D. candidate in Urban and Regional Science with degrees in Architecture and Land Development, is head of Geospatial Support Services at Yale Library and the Yale Center for Geospatial Solutions. With more than 20 years of experience, she coordinates geospatial support services for researchers in higher education.
The Lorimer Award committee acknowledged that “Miriam has been instrumental in helping students, staff, and faculty across Yale confidently apply geospatial concepts and tools to their work. Through personalized consultations, immersive training programs, and support for the new Yale Center for Geospatial Solutions, she’s built a thriving geospatial community whose impact extends across campus and beyond.“ This month, Olivares is celebrating her 10-year anniversary at Yale Library.
Terry Dagradi supports the Medical Historical Library as the
Cushing Center Coordinator. The Cushing Center is part of the
Medical Historical Library, the special collections repository of the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library. Dagradi was honored for her contributions to revitalizing the School of Medicine’s public spaces through her work on Medical Library exhibitions and tours.
This year, President McInnis recognized 35 Yale staff members in the award ceremony at the Schwarzman Center.
Established in 2014, the Lorimer Award was renamed in 2015 to honor Linda Koch Lorimer, former vice president of global and strategic initiatives, on the occasion of her retirement. The award celebrates staff who embody Yale’s spirit of leadership, innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Nominated by their peers, this year’s honorees represent 13 key initiatives that advance Yale’s mission locally and globally. Their contributions have accelerated research, improved how we work, and enriched the fabric of our campus and community.
