Teju Cole is a novelist, photographer, critic,
curator, and the author of several books. He
was born in the United States in 1975 to Nigerian parents and was raised in Lagos. His books include the novella Every Day Is for the Thief, the novel Open City, the experimental photo book Blind Spot, and, most recently, the novel Tremor. He has been honored with the PEN/Hemingway Award, the Internationaler Literaturpreis, the Windham-Campbell Prize, the New York City Book Award for Fiction, the Rosenthal Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and a Guggenheim Fellowship, among other recognitions. He was the photography critic of the New York Times Magazine from 2015 until 2019. He currently teaches at Harvard University as the Gore Vidal Professor of the Practice of Creative Writing.
