Mondays at Beinecke: Celebrating Thornton Wilder in the Archives
April 17 marks the 125th anniversary of the birth, in 1897, of the illustrious American author, Thornton Wilder. To celebrate the occasion, Tappan Wilder, Thornton Wilder’s nephew and literary executor, and Melissa Barton, curator of drama and prose in the Yale Collection of American Literature, will discuss the Thornton Wilder Papers (https://archives.yale.edu/repositories/11/resources/1402).
Wilder 1920 B.A. won three Pulitzer Prizes and a National Book Award over the course of his distinguished career as a playwright and novelist. Most of the papers now in the Thornton Wilder Papers (YCAL MSS 108) were the gift of Thornton Wilder or of family members.
The opening presentation at 4:00pm will be followed by half an hour of conversation and q&a from 4:30pm
