Yale University’s connections with Deaf history include a rich tradition of
educational advocacy, school leadership, and support for the development
of American Sign Language and Deaf education. In recognition of International Week of Deaf People, this interactive exhibit highlights Deaf History artifacts from the Yale Archives; including correspondence by the founders and instructors of the American School for the Deaf, early school records, newspaper clippings, photographs, and other treasures of early American Deaf education. Organized with The American Sign Language Program and the Department of Linguistics
