Library celebrates Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, 2023

On September 17, 1787, the Founding Fathers signed the most significant document in American history—the United States Constitution. To mark the occasion, Yale Library is hosting workshops and events to celebrate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, recognized each year on Sept. 17.
Join us throughout the week at these events to commemorate this essential document and the ideas fundamental to our nation’s past, present, and future. A selection of related physical and virtual resources are also available to explore.
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day events
- Thurs., Sept. 14, 3:00 to 3:30 pm: In-person workshop at Marx Science and Social Science Library, GeoHack 101: Map Government Data in 30 Minutes
- Sun., Sept. 17, 1:00 to 4 pm: Constitution Day Display of the first printing of the U.S. Constitution, the Federalist Papers, and related collection materials in the reading room of Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library
- Mon., Sept. 18, 11:30 am to 1 pm: Drop-in at Marx Library to answer the question, Are You Smarter than the U.S. Naturalization Test? and win a prize!
- Thurs., Sept. 21, 11:00 am to 12 pm: Online workshop, Finding U.S. Government Information and Data
Resources
- Yale Library Research Guide for Constitution Day, including a variety of resources across the collections of Yale Library.
- PDFs of pocket editions of the U.S. Constitution are available online, and, as of Sept. 13, printed copies will be available at Marx Library’s iDesk, while supplies last.
- From Wed., Sept. 13 to Wed., Sept. 27, Marx Library will display volumes in our collection related to the U.S. Constitution, naturalization, and citizenship.
