Photo gallery: Library welcomes new Yale faculty members
More than 20 new faculty members gathered for a morning-long event to mingle with library staff, learn about available teaching and research support services, and tour Sterling Memorial and Bass libraries.
“The goal of the orientation,” said Jeremy Garritano, director of Research Support and Outreach Programs at Marx Science and Social Science Library, “was to provide new faculty with the chance to network with subject specialists and archivists, while also highlighting the many services and programs the library provides in support of research and learning.”
Garritano and Kathryn Webb, director of Yale Library Access Services and Bass Library, were co-organizers of the event.
Barbara Rockenbach, the Stephen F. Gates ’68 University Librarian, delivered opening remarks to the group who gathered for a light breakfast in Sterling Library’s Selin Courtyard.
“Although we have great collections,” she told the new faculty members, “our librarians and their expertise are what distinguishes Yale Library as a world-class resource. This orientation provides you with the opportunity to meet our staff, ask questions, and establish ongoing relationships to support you and your students.”
